Sustainability
At TRILUX, environmental protection and the conservation of resources are firmly anchored in our DNA; this is self-evident for us as a business.
We align the actions of our organisation to this in all core areas, and not only since measures against climate change have been demanded by law and society in general.
Climate Strategy
TRILUX pursues the concise goal of consistently reducing its greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain, from production and logistics through to the use of our products.
Sustainable Products & Solutions
TRILUX focuses on the consistent development of sustainable innovations and technologies in the field of lighting. As a pioneer in LED transformation, we consistently set benchmarks for efficiency, quality and technology.
Circular Economy
TRILUX actively strengthens the circular economy: Through modular product design and resource-optimised lighting planning, we ensure that materials and components remain in use for as long as possible. Implementation through design for disassembly, high reparability, and refurbishment options, aiming to maximise the service life and material recovery of the lighting infrastructure.
Sustainable Lighting Concepts
TRILUX offers luminaires with specific optical systems that, when professionally planned and optimally arranged, can reduce the required electrical load in a room (W/m²) by up to 40% compared to standard solutions available on the market. *
* Example comparison: AragF 12 PVW 40-840 ET PC. Results depend on project-specific lighting design and installation parameters.
Social & Governance
Responsible use of resources* and the creation of high-quality living and working spaces. Boldly and creatively leading the way as a pioneer.
*TRILUX defines responsibility as the continuous improvement of material and energy efficiency (environmental) as well as the adherence to strict social standards in the supply chain (social).
Clear climate targets:
Aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Scope 1: 25 % absolute reduction by 2030 (base year 2020)
- Scope 2: 50 % absolute reduction by 2030 (base year 2020)
- Scope 3: 2,5 % absolute reduction by 2030 (base year 2020)
TRILUX voluntarily offsets remaining emissions via certified projects.
We rely on 100% green electricity for our production sites in Arnsberg and Cologne*. Beyond our own operations, TRILUX takes responsibility by voluntarily offsetting our remaining emissions through national and international certified projects.
*Electricity from renewable sources (substantiated by Guarantees of Origin).
BREEAM “Excellent” Certification at our Swidnik location, Poland, with a score of 76.9%.
Our production facility in Spain is equipped with 1,262 solar panels. This photovoltaic system covers approx. 20% of the site’s electricity requirements, avoiding around 210 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually*.
*Estimated based on the average annual electricity generation of the on-site according to national Spanish electricity market data (supplier: ENDESA ENERGIA SAU, code R2-001).
Product efficiency
Product efficiency is our biggest lever for decarbonisation: Did you know that the use phase is responsible for over 95% of the lifetime CO₂ emissions of a typical luminaire? That is why maximizing energy efficiency is our top priority.*
*Based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) according to EN 15804. Calculation assumes a service life of 100,000 hours and operation using the static German electricity mix 2019.
Energy Efficiency and Lifetime
TRILUX luminaires achieve an efficiency of up to 220 lm/W and a service life of up to 100,000 hours. When supported by our LiveLink light management system, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 85% compared to conventional lighting installations.
Environmental Product Declarations
TRILUX provides third party verified Environmental Product Declarations for selected products according to PEP ecopassport guidelines and in line with Lighting Europe
Light as a Service
Rethink Ownership – we offer Light as a Service – lease don’t buy
Modular Design
Future-ready luminaires. Designed for refurbishment, simple reconfiguration, and technological upgrades.
Outlet Stores
Available on the TRILUX ONE platform in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain.
Turning waste into light:
The housing and diffusor of the ARAGON RCY is manufactured from 100% recycled plastics (polycarbonate). We utilise raw materials from both post-consumer and post-industrial streams to minimise the use of virgin resources.
Refers to the polycarbonate housing body. Recycled content derived from Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR) and Post-Industrial Recyclate (PIR). Electronic components and wiring excluded.
Louvres in the Loop:
TRILUX and Otto Fuchs research
The research project shows that with this recycling process for aluminium, the resulting CO₂ footprint is around 0.1 kilograms of CO₂e per kilogram – compared to about 4 kilograms of Co2e per kilogram for low-carbon primary aluminium.
